How do you evaluate NDT equipment before purchase?

Hi all. I'm curious how professionals here evaluate ndt equipment before making a purchase. There are so many technical parameters, standards, and manufacturer claims that it's easy to get lost. Reviews are useful, but sometimes they're too generic. Do you focus more on specs, brand reputation, or recommendations from colleagues? I'd like to hear how others balance all this information.
